Swiss Cheese Model

Special Occasion Permit (SOP)
A permit required in Ontario for events serving or selling alcohol outside licensed venues.
Alcohol Liability
Legal and financial responsibilities surrounding the serving and sale of alcohol at events.
General Liability Insurance
Protects planners from legal and medical costs arising from accidents.
Event Cancellation Insurance
Insurance that protects planners and clients from financial losses due to uncontrollable event cancellations.
Crisis Management
The process of preparing for, reacting to, and recovering from unexpected negative events.
Event Response Plan (ERP)
A document outlining a guide for actions and communications during an emergency.
Waiver
A legal document acknowledging specific risks, protecting the organizer from liability.
Indemnification Clause
An agreement to reimburse another party for specific losses or damages.
