Physical

• Physical effects like abnormalities of co-ordination and speech patterns - e.g. cocaine & heroine

• Different drugs - different effects e.g. dramatic weight loss, experiencing sleep patterns

• Drugs can cause accidents, premature death and unsafe practise e.g. sharing needles feeding to HIV

• Lack of concern about appearance, may ignore their hygiene needs

Social

• Experience difficulties in family, may experience loneliness and isolation

• Financial problems because expense of buying drugs may have no money for any other social activities

• May resort to crime to feed drug habit, may lead to jail sentence, removing the individual from society

• May lead to anti-social behaviour/fights and result in losing friends.

Psychological

• Attention and concentration spans may decrease. may become forgetful = effects to the nervous system

• Mental Health problems = depression, anxiety and paranoia

• May suffer blackouts or hallucinations - experience difficult emotions e.g. paranoid

• May lead to reduced emotional control e.g. dramatic mood servings, anxiety reactions, heightened anger and negative feelings
