Overt racism

the “tip of the iceberg”; visible hate speech or violence that everyone agress is bad

Covert racism

discrimination that hides behind “standard procedures,” polite language, or “safety concerns”

Systemic racism

when inequality is built into the rules/law of an institution (like healthcare or housing)

Implicit bias

unconcious/unintentional favourism

Microagression

an intentional/unintentional comment that insults a marginalized person/group

Eurocenthism

western’s perspective/European’s worldview being dominant

Tokenism

using a marginalized person/group to virtue-signal

Colour blindness

being “blind” to race, saying “I don’t see skin colour”

Intergenerational trauma

traumatic experiences are passed down through generation

White fragility

white people getting defensive about their privilege
