Higher motives only emerge after lower level motives are satified. 8 stages/sections

1. Physiological

To satisfy hunger, thirst, and fatigue

2. Safety

To feel secure and safe, out of danger

3. Love and belongingness

To be with others, be accepted, and belong

4. Esteem

To achieve, be competent, gain approval, an recognition

5.Cognitive

To know, understand and explore

6. Aesthetic

To appreciate beauty, order, and symmetry

7. Self-Actualization

To find self-fulfillment and realize one’s potential

8. Transcendence

To find Spiritual meaning beyond one’s intimate self
