Why did Saddam Hussein invade Kuwait?
Hussein invaded Kuwait because it overproduced oil. He accused Kuwait of stealing oil in a territory dispute over Kuwait; he also owed Kuwait money, but he thought if he took it over, then he would not have to pay it. (August 1990- March 1991)
Why did President Bush use military action against Hussein?
He got this request passed by only 5 votes. His reason for doing this was to free Americans held hostage in Iraq
Describe the two phases of the war
: The first phase was mainly the fight against Kuwait and Iraq. Iraq won in two days because it had 1.5 million people. The second phase was the allies coming together and helping Kuwait. On November 29, 1990, the Security Council passed Resolution 678, which gave Iraq until January 15 to withdraw from Kuwait and empowered states to use "all necessary means" to force Iraq out of Kuwait after the deadline.
What type of person was President Bush?
He was a very generous and thoughtful person; he would often write letters to people no matter not he was feeling and made sure to address every person he met with respect.
What promise did President Bush not keep with the American People?
He promised not to raise taxes.
