What is the definition of PAD?
The form of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) that occurs in peripheral arteries.
What is the most common form of PAD and its presentation?
Lower extremity PAD
Presented in as many as 6.5 million US adults older than 40
Associated with an increased risk of limb loss and death
What are the most prevalent PAD risk factors?
Tobacco smoking, DM, HTN, Dyslipidemia
Risk of developing PAD increases with age (>65)
What are ALL of the risk factors of PAD?
Known atherosclerosis in another vasuclar bed (e.g., carotid, coronary, renal)
Age 65 or older
Age 50 to 64 with atherosclerosis risk factors, including DM, HTN, dyslipidemia, current/prior tobacco smoking; and/or family hx of PAD
