Rigid Transformation
A transformation of the plane that preserves distance, such as translation, reflection, and rotation.
Stretching
A type of transformation that is not considered a rigid transformation of the plane.
Translation
A transformation that occurs when every point of a figure is moved from one location to another location along the same direction through the same distance.
Rotation
A transformation where a figure is turned around a fixed center point through a specific angle, such as 270∘ clockwise or 90∘.
Reflection
A one-to-one correspondence transformation where points are flipped across a line of reflection, such as the y-axis, the line y=x, or the line x+y=0.
Image
The resulting figure, point, or equation after a transformation (such as translation T or reflection M) has been applied to the original.
Fixed Circle under Rotation
Every circle with its center at the center of rotation is considered fixed.
Identity Transformation
A transformation that leaves every point of a figure in its original location.
Translation Vector
A vector denoted as u=(h,k) used to transform an equation or point by shifting coordinates by specific constants.
Axis of Reflection
The specific line over which a figure is reflected, such as y=2x−12 or y=3x+12.
Center of Rotation
The fixed point about which a plane or figure is turned, such as the origin (0,0) or a specific point like (1,−2).
Vector Equation of a Line
A way to represent a line using a starting point and a direction vector, for example: (x,y)=(−2,1)+t(1,1) where t∈R.
