finite sequence

infinite sequence

arithmetic

when the same value is added to each term of a sequence to get the next term

geometric

when each term in a sequence is multiplied by the same value to get the next term

recursive sequence

when the previous term is used to find the next term in a sequence

series

created when the terms of a sequence are added together. can be infinite or finite

simple interest

interest paid on the initial amount borrowed, saved, or invested only and not on past interest

compound interest

interest paid on the initial amount and the accumulated interest

mathematical proof

a series of logical steps that show one side of a mathematical statement is equivalent to the other side for all values of the variable
