On October 18, Jose Rizal left Paris for Hong Kong. He boarded SS _

in Calamba, he conceived the idea of
establishing a Filipino colony in Borneo, called:

Jose Rizal went to Borneo on March 1892 to
establish a Filipino colony there. Borneo was

making and using fishing nets intended for sure and big catch.

purchase a big net for trawl fishing and to send him skillful Calamba
fishermen to teach the Dapitaños better and more reliable methods.

As an Educator;
✓Rizal established a school in Dapitan which was attended by ___ young
boys from prominent families. Instead of charging them for the
matriculation, he made the students do community projects for him like
maintaining his garden and field.
✓Rizal’s advocacy of educating the youth in Dapitan showed when he
opened its community school from January 1894 to July 1896 with 23
students, 16 of which stayed with hnish, Enim as regular students.
✓The students were taught in Spanish, Arithmetic, Gymnastics and
Swimming. Rizal also gave awards to his brightest students.
✓Classes were conducted from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the teacher sitting on
a hammock while the students sat on a long bamboo bench.

✓Jose Rizal collected specimens of Flora and Fauna in Dapitan. He then
sent this specimen in Ateneo de Manila and his friends in Europe.
✓Jose Rizal collection of specimen were gladly accepted by his friends who
were gladly scientist; like reptiles, birds, crustaceans, coleoptera,
seashells, and butterflies. Some of which were named after him. They
were the Rhacophorus rizali (rare toad), ___ rizali (flying dragon),
___ rizali (beetle)

2. He initiated the construction of a dam or water-depository to provide clean water;

the Irish girl who was the adopted daughter of his blind patient George Tauffer, came to his rescue by enlightening his gloomy heart. They fell in love with each other as “Love at First Sight” and in just one month they agreed to marry which appalled and disturbed Tauffer. However, the parish priest in Dapitan, Father Antonio Obach refused to officiate the marriage unless they be
permitted by the bishop of Cebu.

baby was one month premature when he was born and he live only
for three hours.

At midnight of July 31, 1896, Jose Rizal left Dapitan on board to Cuba(volunteer) the steamer ___, together with Narcisa, Josephine, Angelica
(Narcisa's daughter), three nephews and six of his students.
Many were saddened as the adopted son of Dapitan left.
Rizal lived in exile in far-away Dapitan, a remote town in Mindanao
which was under the missionary jurisdiction of the Jesuits, from
1892 to 1896.
