Aminoalkanes
Organic compounds containing an amino group (-NH2) bonded to an alkane.
Amino Acid
An organic molecule that contains both an amino group and a carboxyl group, and participates in forming proteins.
Dibromoalkane
An organic compound that contains two bromine atoms attached to an alkane structure.
Reflux
A process in which the vapors of a reaction mixture are condensed and returned to the reaction flask, maintaining temperature.
Haloalkanes
Alkane derivatives where one or more hydrogen atoms are substituted by halogen atoms.
Aldehydes
Organic compounds containing a carbonyl group (C=O) with at least one hydrogen atom attached to the carbon.
Carboxylic Acids
Organic acids containing a carboxyl group (-COOH) which can donate a proton.
Esters
Organic compounds formed from the reaction of an alcohol and a carboxylic acid, replacing the hydrogen of the acid's hydroxyl group with an alkyl group.
Ketones
Organic compounds containing a carbonyl group (C=O) bonded to two other carbon atoms.
Alkanes
Saturated hydrocarbons with single bonds between carbon atoms, adhering to the general formula CnH2n+2.
