Pregnancy
The time during which an offspring develops inside the woman's womb, divided into three stages known as trimesters.
First trimester
The stage of pregnancy from conception to 12 weeks.
Second trimester
The stage of pregnancy from 12 to 24 weeks.
Third trimester
The stage of pregnancy from 24 to 40 weeks.
First stage of labor
The stage where the baby grows from a fertilized egg into a moving fetus with eyes, ears, and working organs, lasting until the cervical opening is as large as the baby's head.
Second stage of labor
The stage when the period from full dilation of the cervix to the birth of the baby, characterized by longer and stronger contractions.
Oxytocin
The hormone that helps with contractions of the uterus during labor.
Third stage of labor
The stage when muscles continue to contract to stop bleeding, and after birth, the uterus contracts to push out the placenta.
Contractions
Muscle tightenings that occur during labor, categorized by increased strength and frequency as labor progresses.
