Respiratory System
A system that allows air to pass in and out of the body.
Ventilation
Movement of gases in and out of the lungs.
Gas exchange
The movement of oxygen into your blood and carbon dioxide out at the alveoli.

A sheet of muscle underneath your lungs

When gas exchange takes place.
Asthma
When the lining of the airways from the mouth to the lungs becomes irritated and swells up.

Damages the cilia of the cells

Reduces surface area of alveoli

Lining is 1 cell thick to make diffusion quicker.

Moist surface helps diffusion of gases.
