Two types of control over family income -
Pahl and vogler
The allowance system = men give their wives allowance out of which they have to budget to meet family needs
Pooling = where both partners have access to income and joint responsibility for expenditure e.g joint ban account
3 types of decisions
edgell argues there are 3 types of decisions
Ver important decisions = such as finance , change of job or moving houses either taken by the husband alone or taken jointly with husband having the last say
Important decisions = such as children’s education or holiday usually taken jointly, seldom by the wife alone
Less important decisions = such as home decor, children’s clothes or food purchase were usually made by wife
