spinous process C7 and T1-T12
What is the trapezius insertion?
superior aspect of spine of scapula
medial aspect of acromion process
lateral 1/3 of clavicle, posterior superior aspect
What is the trapezius nerve innervation?
spinal accessory nerve
(arises from CN XI)
What is the trapezius blood supply?
superficial branch of the transverse cervical artery
(arises from subclavian artery and crosses posterior cervical triangle to deep surface of trapezius)
What is the trapezius action?
upper trap: elevation of distal clavicle and scapula with cervical extension
middle trap: ADD and upward rotation of scapula
lower trap: ADD and depression of scapula
What is the latissimus dorsi origin?
spinous processes of T7-T12 and all lumbae spines
thoracolumbal fascia
iliac crest
lower 3 ribs
What is the latissimus dorsi insertion?
floor of intertubercle groove of humerus
What is the latissimus dorsi nerve innervation?
thoracodorsal nerve (arises from posterior cord of brachial plexus)
What is the latissimus dorsi blood supply?
thoracodorsal artery (branch from subscapular artery from 3rd part of axillary artery)
What is the latissimus dorsi action?
EXT and ADD of upper extremity
What is the rhomboid major origin?
spinous processes T2-T5
What is the rhomboid major insertion?
medial border of scapula
What is the rhomboid major nerve innervation?
dorsal scapular nerve
What is the rhomboid major blood supply?
dorsal scapular artery
What is the rhomboid major action?
adducts, rotates, and elevates scapula
What is the rhomboid minor origin?
nuchal ligament
