= painful inability to pass urine.

Requires hospital admission for catheterisatiaon and an alpha-adrenoceptor blocker before the removal of the catheter for at least 2 days.

Alpha blockers: alfuzosin hydrochloride, doxazosin, tamsulosin hydrochloride, prazosin, indoramin, terazosin
