One-Way Within-Subjects ANOVA
A statistical procedure used to test hypotheses for one factor with two or more levels concerning the variance among group means.
Within-Subjects Design
A design where the same participants are observed at each level of one factor.
Degrees of Freedom (df)
Values that represent the number of independent values or quantities that can be assigned to a statistical distribution.
Normality
Assumption that data in the population or populations being sampled are normally distributed.
Homogeneity of Variance
Assumption that the variance in each population is equal to one another.
Bonferroni Procedure
A post hoc test that adjusts the alpha level to reduce the probability of Type I error in multiple comparisons.
Effect Size
A measure that describes the size of a difference and its practical significance in a study.
Partial Eta-Squared (η²)
A measure of effect size for the proportion of variance accounted for by a factor in the model.
Post Hoc Comparisons
Tests conducted after an ANOVA to determine specifically which means are significantly different.
Testwise Alpha
The alpha level or probability of making a Type I error for each test or pairwise comparison.
