Hepatobiliary System
The system consisting of the liver, pancreas, and gall bladder that plays a vital role in metabolism, digestion, and detoxification.
Liver Functions
Main functions include storage of glycogen and vitamins, production of albumin and bile, and conversion of toxins and hemoglobin.
Gall Bladder
An organ that stores and concentrates bile, and secretes it into the duodenum to emulsify fats.
Pancreas
An organ that has both digestive and endocrine functions, producing pancreatic juice to break down food and hormones to regulate blood sugar.
Symptoms of Hepatobiliary Dysfunction
Common symptoms include malaise, nausea, muscle weakness, and reduced concentration.
ISBAR
An acronym for Introduction, Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation, used for effective communication in healthcare.
Conversion in the Liver
The process by which the liver breaks down toxins and converts them into less harmful substances.
Storage in the Liver
The function of the liver to store various substances, including glycogen, vitamins, and minerals.
Production in the Liver
The process where the liver produces essential proteins such as albumin, as well as bile.
Urinary Issues
Problems related to urination that may indicate dysfunction in the hepatobiliary or renal systems.
