What does the word ‘Renaissance’ mean?
It is formed from the prefix ‘re’, meaning ‘again’, and the French word ‘naissance’, meaning ‘birth’, joining together to form the word ‘Renaissance’, meaning ‘rebirth’.
When did it last from?
It lasted from the 14th century to the 16th century.
Who invented the Printing Press and when?
Johann Gutenburg, around 1436.
Why was this important to help the spread of the Renaissance?
This was important because previously books were expensive and rare, hand-written by monks. With this invention, they were more readily available to the masses, sparking a new interest in learning.
Who invented the English Printing Press and when?
William Caxton in 1476.
Where was the Earth according to Middle Age teachings?
It was in the centre of the universe, with the Sun and all the other planets orbiting it.

Copernicus, but Galileo proved it with his invention of the telescope.
