Transverse foramen
A feature found only on cervical vertebrae.
Atlas (C1)
The first cervical vertebra, which is ring-shaped with no distinct body.
Axis (C2)
The second cervical vertebra, characterized by the dens (odontoid process).
True ribs
Rib pairs 1 through 7.
False ribs
Rib pairs 8 through 10.
Floating ribs
Rib pairs 11 and 12.
Xiphoid process
The inferior-most portion of the sternum.
Glenoid fossa
A feature of the scapula that articulates with the head of the humerus.
Trochlea and Capitulum
Specific features located on the humerus.
Carpals
The eight bones of each wrist: Scaphoid, Lunate, Trapezium, Trapezoid, Triquetrum, Pisiform, Hamate, and Capitate.
Acetabulum
A structure formed by parts of the ilium, ischium, and pubis where the femur articulates.
Obturator foramen
An opening formed within the pubis and ischium.
Linea aspera
A feature located on the shaft of the femur.
Malleolus
The medial malleolus is found on the tibia, while the lateral malleolus is found on the fibula.
Atlano-occipital joint
The articulation between the occipital condyles and the superior articulating facets of the atlas (C1).
Glenohumeral joint
The articulation point between the glenoid fossa of the scapula and the head of the humerus.
Elbow joint
A complex articulation involving the trochlea of the humerus to the trochlear notch of the ulna, the capitulum of the humerus to the head of the radius, and the radial notch of the ulna to the head of the radius.
Sacroiliac joint
The point of articulation between the sacrum and the ilium.
