The framework of fundamental beliefs and assumptions through which an individual interprates reality, covering aspects like existance, morality, and purpose.

Supernatural

Implies divinity exceeds the capacity of human nature.

Transcendent

Latin for ‘To climb over’

The divine world beyond the material world.

Immanent

The presence of God/ gods within human experiences of every day life.

Charecteristics of Religion

Beliefs and believers- What they belive in and who they are. Muslims belive in Allah

Sacred texts and writings- The stories which connect to the beginings of religion aswell as the morals/ ethics of the religion. Scriptures ect

Ethics- How they base what is acceptable to do in society, the codes of right and wrong made up of morals. Dont kill ect

Rituals and ceremonies- The practices that connect them closer to their God/s on a spiritual level, or to appease them though commitment. Mass, liturgy ect

The contribution of religion to individuals

Giving someone meaning, purpose, and community. Something for a person to be guided by in their decisions.

The contribution of religion to society.

Gives people in power a set of ethics to guide their decisions for their country. Education, charities, clothing, buildings, art ect.
