Matter
Anything that has mass.
Weight
Mass plus the effect of gravity.
States of Matter
Three possible forms of matter:solid, liquid, and gas.
Solid
A state of matter with a definite shape and volume.
Liquid
A state of matter with a changeable shape but definite volume.
Gas
A state of matter with both changeable shape and volume.
Atoms
The basic building blocks of all elements.
Atomic Symbol
One or two letter chemical shorthand for each element.
Elements
Substances that cannot be created or broken down by ordinary chemical means.
Chemical Symbols
Notations used to represent elements, such as O for oxygen, C for carbon, H for hydrogen, and N for nitrogen.
Major Elements in the Body
The four elements (O, C, H, N) that make up the majority of our bodies.
