trigger based questions
As the doctor mentioned, I believe you have bacterial vaginosis.
This is a very common condition that results in a disruption of the normal acidic pH of the vagina and an imbalance in the normal bacteria, which causes a film to develop around the vaginal wall
This is commonly associated with fishy odour, thin and white discharge and typically no pain or itchiness
This is usually caused by sexual activity regularly, the introduction of the semen which is has a high pH can effect the low pH of the vagina, it can also be caused by smoking, taking antibiotics which can disrupt the normal bacteria or flushing the vagina with lots of chemicals or water, tight underwear, not using condoms, wiping from back to front
do you have any preferences in how you want to treat this condition?
NELT
based on preferences - astrodimer sodium gel.
this will help to break fill which has been created on the vaginal wall, will not disrupt the normal bacteria in the vagina can be used as a lubricant and not systemically absorbed thus safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding
have they used applicator before, if not - Attach the applicator to the end of the tube of cream & fill, you should lie on their back & draw their knees bent. The applicator should be inserted as deep as is comfortable into the vagina, press on the plunger to release the cream, slowly remove the applicator and discard
you want to do this once a daily for 7 days, better at bedtime to prevent any leakage that could occur by movement during the day, this will help to reduce the odour and the discharge by the end of treatment
this is safe for pregnancy or breastfeeding, can be used if your on your period
well - tolerated, may feel a bit of discomfort when using the applicator but that is normal
you should visit the doctor, if you experience this more than 4 times a year, if you experience any pain when urinating, a fever, any abnormal bleeding, rashes, no improvement after course
lifestyle - in the future, i would suggest, reducing smoking if possible to prevent re occurance, suggest other sexual partners to get treatment as well, prevent using any fragrances in the area, or flushing it with water, as it can disrupt the pH and cause more irritation and further issues, using condoms, urinating aftesex, wipe from front to back, loose underwear
does this treatment work for you?
IDARL
use of fragrances
flushing with water
using an azole to treat
tightly fitted clothings
not changing pads regularly
