PRE-TRIP INSPECTION
IN VEHICLE/ENGINE START
Turn the key halfway. Without starting the bus. I will wait for my gauges to settle and lights to clear on the dash before starting my bus. ABS and DEF lights came on and off.
(START THE BUS)
Air Brakes (CHOCK TIRE)
Pump brakes to drop pressure to 90 psi.
1. I will wait for my air pressure to build up til my governor cuts out between 120 to 140 psi.
2. Turn bus off, Turn the key halfway, put foot on the service brake and release the parking brake.
I should lose no more than 3psi in one minute,Can you count my minute, please?
I did not lose no more than 3psi in one minute.
3. I will pump my brakes, and the buzzer and light alarm comes on or before 55 psi.
4. I will continue pumping my brakes until my parking brake pops out between 20 and 45 psi.
I will restart the bus and allow my air pressure to build until my governor cuts out between 120 and 140 psi. (REMOVE CHOCK
Parking Brake Check
I will put my bus into drive with parking brake on and rev the rpms up to 12 rpms two times to ensure my parking brakes is holding. My parking brake is holding.
Service Brake Check
I will put my bus into drive and make two 5 mph stops to make sure my service brake is working properly, and the bus is not pulling to the left or the right.
Lighting Indicators
(Turn on headlights)

Left turn signal

Strobe light switch is on, I will check through the roof hatch
Passenger/School Bus Section
Yellow Amber 8 ways work on the panel
Red 8 ways work on the panel, stop sign and lights are working

Windshield and Traffic Monitoring Device/Passenger Monitoring
My windshield is clean, secure, not damaged, no obstructions, and my 2 inspection stickers are up to date.
My flat, convex, crossover and passenger mirrors are properly adjusted for me, clean, secure, and not damaged.
My cameras are clean, secure, not damaged, and properly working.
Wipers and Washer
Wipers and Washer work, blades are secure, not damaged, and flush to the windshield.
Heaters and Defroster
Heaters and defrosters work properly.
Horn
Blow horn, horn is properly working
Emergency Equipment (Get out seat)
3 red reflective triangles secure
Fire extinguisher is secure and fully charged
My mechanics have my spare fuses
First aid kit and Body fluid kit issecure and tagged, indicating it is full
Handrails secure, not damaged
Steps and tread secure and not damaged
Passenger and School bus only
Seats-seat cushions are not damaged. The seat is secure to the frame and the frame is secure to the floor. (I would check all the seats the same)
Emergency Exits
I have 4 emergency windows they are properly labeled, not damaged, open and close freely, and alarm sounds. (check one and say I will check the other 3 the same)

Roof Hatch is properly labeled, not damaged, seals are intact, and I can see my strobe light is working and not damaged. I would check the other one the same way

Fluid Levels
Power Steering and coolant fluid are at the proper level
Oil, I would check with the engine off, pull out the dipstick, wipe it off, stick it
back in and make sure it's between add and full.
Fluid and Air Leaks
(Check all hoses and wires, look on ground for leaks, listen for air leaks.)
I do not see any fluid leaks or hear any air leaks.
Steering System
Steering Shaft, Steering gear box, steering hoses, steering linkage, and tie rod securely mounted, not damaged, cracked, or worn, not leaking, no missing nuts, bolts, and cotter keys.
Springs/Mounts/Shocks
Leaf springs are not damaged, shifted, cracked, or broken
Spring Mounts are secure, not damaged, cracked, or broken
Shocks are secure, not damaged, not leaking
Brakes Hoses
Brakes hoses are not cracked, worn, damaged, or leaking
Brakes drum and lining are free from contaminants, oils and debris
Steering Axles
Tire walls have no abrasions bubble or cuts. Front tire can’t no be re-cap
Tire should be 105 psi, I would check that with a tire pressure gauge
Tread depth should be no less than 4/32 of an inch, I would check that with a tread depth gauge
Valve stems are secure, cap is on, not leaking
Rims
The rims are not damaged, cracked, or bent.
Rims do not have any illegal weld or elongated holes
All lug nuts and studs are present. None are missing or loose. There are no signs of rust trails or shinny thread. (Close hood)

All lights are clean, proper color, not cracked, broken, or missing.
All reflective tape and reflective circles are clean, proper color, and secure
