1 washcloth (sink liner)

denture cup with lid

emesis basin

toothbrush

toothpaste

1 barrier towel

5. explain procedure

6. check name band

7. lock wheels of bed

After opening statement, what’s next?

put on gloves

After putting on gloves, what do you do?

grab dentures and denture cup

Denture Care – After grabbing dentures & cup, what’s next?

Line the bottom of the sink with washcloth

Denture Care – After lining sink, what’s next

remove denture from denture cup

After seperating dentures from denture cup, what’s next?

rinse denture cup and fill with water (dump, rinse, dump, rinse, fill with water)

After filling denture cup up with new water, what’s next?

Rinse denture under COOL running water.

After rinsing dentures, what do you prepare?

prepare toothbrush with toothpaste

Thoroughly brush the INNER surfaces of the denture

Denture Care – After brushing inner surfaces, what is the next step?

Thoroughly brush the OUTER surfaces of the denture.

Denture Care – After brushing outer surfaces, what is the next step?

Thoroughly brush the CHEWING surfaces of the denture. (top of teeth)

Rinse ALL surfaces of the denture under cool running water.

Denture Care – After rinsing the dentures, where do you put them?

Place denture in denture cup (turn water off)

place dentures in designated spot

place toothbrush and toothepaste in emesis basin. put in proper spot

roll up dirty linens, place in correct place

Place call light near resident; ask if they need anything.
