10 amendments

First Amendment

grants freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition

Second Amendment

protects the right to own and carry guns

Third Amendment

prevents soldiers from housing in private homes without permission (basically no soldiers are allowed in your house)

Fourth Amendment

protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures

Fifth Amendment

guarantees fair legal procedures and and a right to remain silent

Sixth Amendment

guarantees a right to a fair and fast public trial with a lawyer and jury provided if an individual lacks the proper funds

Seventh Amendment

guarantees the right to a jury trial in civil cases

Eighth Amendment

protects against excessive punishment, bail, and fines

Ninth Amendment

states that people have more rights than those listed in the Constitution

Tenth Amendment

powers not given to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people
