Energy
the ability to do work or cause change

Potential Energy
the energy that is not causing any changes now but could cause changes in the future; stored energy or energy due to position

Kinetic Energy
the energy due to motion

Transform
to change from one form into another form

Transmit
To send on, pass along, send out

Transfer
to move from one place to another

Friction
a force between two surfaces that are sliding, or trying to slide across one another

Sound
a form of energy made by vibrations

Vibration
the back-and-forth motion of an object

Amplitude
how loud or soft a sound is which is determined by how much energy the sound wave has
Pitch
how high or low a sound, related to the frequency of waves. The higher the pitch of sound, the greater the frequency.

Wavelength
the distance from one point of a wave to another point on another wave adjacent to it.

Light
a form of energy that our eyes can see and travels in a straight line until it strikes an object or travels from one type of matter to another.
Refract
when light bends

Reflect
when light bounces off an object

Absorb
to take up and store energy without reflecting or transmitting that energy
Translucent
materials that let some light pass through them

Transparent
materials that let nearly all light pass through them

Opaque
materials that do not let any light pass through
