Troposphere
The first layer of the atmosphere where we live, containing half of the Earth's atmosphere and where weather occurs.
Stratosphere
The layer of the atmosphere that contains much of the ozone layer and is used by jet aircraft due to its stability.
Mesosphere
The region above the stratosphere where meteors burn up upon entering the atmosphere.
Thermosphere
The layer of the atmosphere above the mesosphere where auroras occur and the space shuttle orbits.
Exosphere
The upper limit of the atmosphere, extending from the thermosphere.
Humidity
The amount of water vapor present in the atmosphere.
Atmospheric Pressure
The force exerted on a surface by the air above it, affected by gravity.
Sea Breeze
A breeze caused by wind blowing from the sea to the land, often bringing cooler air.
Land Breeze
A breeze caused by wind blowing from the land to the sea, typically occurring at night.
Climate
The average weather in a region over many years, as opposed to the short-term conditions of weather.
