Buchner Funnel
A piece of laboratory equipment used in filtration, traditionally made of porcelain, glass, or plastic.
Suction filtration
The standard technique used for separating a solid-liquid mixture when the goal is to retain the solid, such as in crystallization.
Vacuum filtration
An alternative name for suction filtration, which is aided by suction beneath the funnel.
Clamp
A tool made from stainless steel used to hold round laboratory glassware, such as beakers and flasks.
Test tube brush
A brush used for cleaning test tubes and narrow mouth laboratory glassware, such as graduated cylinders and burettes.
Spout brush
Another name for a test tube brush used for cleaning narrow mouth laboratory glassware.
Test tube holder
A device used to hold a test tube in place when the tube is hot or should not be touched.
Test tube stand
Laboratory equipment used to hold upright multiple test tubes at the same time.
Test tube racks
Another term for a test tube stand used to hold multiple test tubes simultaneously.
Bunsen burner
A small adjustable gas burner used in laboratories as a source of heat.
Fritted glass disc
A component in a Büchner funnel that, along with a perforated plate, separates the cylinder from the funnel base.
Perforated plate
A component found in a Büchner funnel used to separate the upper cylinder from the lower funnel part.
Porcelain
The traditional material used to manufacture a Büchner funnel.
Filter-vac
A component identified as part of the Buchner funnel vacuum filtration setup.
Stainless steel
The material from which lab clamps used to hold round glassware are made.
Graduated cylinders
Narrow mouth laboratory glassware that is cleaned using a test tube brush.
Burettes
Narrow mouth glassware noted as being cleaned by a test tube brush or spout brush.
Erlenmeyer flasks
A type of narrow mouth laboratory glassware specifically mentioned as cleanable by a test tube brush.
Crystallization
An example process where suction filtration is used to separate a solid-liquid mixture to retain the solid.
Suction
The force applied beneath the funnel that aids in the process of vacuum filtration.
