Financial Aid
External funding that helps students and families pay for college. It can cover costs like tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, and some living expenses
Scholarships
Financial support awarded to a student, based on academic achievement or other criteria that may include financial need, for the purpose of schooling.
Grants
A "grant" is a general term for funds that organizations receive that are not expected to be repaid
FAFSA
Free Application for Federal Student Aid an application that students and families need to complete to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans
Pell Grant
A source of financial government funding provided to students who need to pay for college. Grants, unlike loans do not have to be repaid. Eligible students receive a specified amount for each year under this program.
