Write down the symbolic equation

Draw a line to separate the reactants on the LHS with the products on the RHS

Step 3
Count the atoms on the LHS and the RHS
We do this by multiplying the coefficient (big number in front of the symbol) by the subscript (small number after the symbol)
If there is not a number, we assume that blank space is a 1

Step 4
Now we balance the equation
We cannot subtract, only add
To add more molecules, you can only change the coefficient INFROUNT of a molecule
