What is the motor effect?
The motor effect is where a current carrying conductor experiences a force when placed in a magnetic field.
What factors affect the motor effect?
The factors that effect the motor effect are:
Strength of magnetic field
Size of current
Angle between conductor and magnetic field
What is an electromagnet?
A solenoid with an iron core.
What is an iron core?
A magnetic material placed inside a solenoid to increase the strength of a magnetic field.
What is an electric motor?
A current carrying coil of wire in a magnetic field. The two sides of the coil that are perpendicular to the magnetic field experience forces in opposite directions, causing rotation.
What does each finger represent in flemings left hand rule?
Thumb - Force
Index - Magnetic field
Middle - Current
What is an induced magnetic?
A material that becomes a magnet when it is placed in an existing magnetic field, but loses its magnetism when it is taken out.
What is a magnetic field?
The regioun around a magnet which another magnet or magnetic material will experience a force.
What is Tesla the unit for?
Magnetic flux density.
