- prevented the fall of South Korea and contained the spread of communism which Britain was also in favour of

- Proved to the World and the US that Britain was still a global super power

- strengthened Anglo-American relations

- YES = did maintain international peace and and security as well as prevented further aggression in Korea + eventually reaching a peaceful settlement of international disputed

- NO = did not prevent aggression and caused a larger scale war + long time to reach a peaceful settlement

- exacerbated domestic economic issues due to high spending to fund the war

- ended in a stalemate and therefore was not all worth the war as there was no clear victor
