Heroine

aka beast, horse. Injected, sniffed, smoked. Opioid. Causes detachment and liver and kidney failure.

Marijuana

Can be smoked, vaped, eaten. A psychoactive, depressant drug from a plant. Causes change in mood, slowed down thinking and reaction time. 

Alcohol

Known as ethanol. Slows down brain and nerve function. Decreased reaction time, addictive, liver damage

Dissociative Drugs

aka Angel Dust, Ozone. Taken by swallowing pills, smoking and injected. Disconnect from reality, numb, confusion, anxiety and panic attacks.

Cocaine

Stimulant, causes people to fidget, high energy, become violent, stroke and death. From the cocoa plant. 

Inhalants

A depressant with the chemicals. Increased anger, quick high then relaxed and confused. Aka Puffin, aerosol

Steroids

Increases muscle growth, blood pressure and acne. Decreases testis. Synthetic testosterone.

Hallucinogens

aka LSD. Psychoactive drug that alters perception, paranoia, distorts reality

GHB & Rohypnol

Synthetic depressant drug. Causes unconsciousness, decreased breathing. Aka club drug. Colorless, odorless.

Nicotine

Inhaled. Is an addictive stimulant causing quick boosts of energy and shortness of breath and light headedness

MDMA

Psychoactive stimulant that causes kidney disease. Known as molly and ecstasy.

Critical thinking, uses all 5 senses to make decisions, problem solving

Balance, coordination, attention, complex motor functions

Thalamus

Relay station for sensory info, consciousness, sleep, attention, memory.

Hypothalamus

Body temp, hunger, sex drive, reward center, fight/flight

Midbrain

Regulates eye movement. Transmits info for vision.

Pons

Regulates sleep cycle, breathing, unconscious movements, transmits signals from the senses.

Medulla Oblongata

Autonomic functions, heart rate, digestion, swallowing, vasomotor center for fine motor movements

Pineal Gland

 Regulates awake vs sleep, releases melatonin

Pituitary Gland

Releases many hormones including growth, follicle stimulating, and helps with metabolism and stress response

Cerebral Cortex

Grey matter, holds all the nerves, intelligence, memory, decision making

Corpus Callosum

Connection of hemispheres. Transmits info from one side of the body to the other.

Cerebrospinal Fluid

Autoregulation of pressure, is a cushion for the brain, provides nutrients to the brain.

Primary Motor Cortex

Encodes direction of movement for the body

Primary Sensory Cortex

Receives info from senses. Integrates sensory and motor signals necessary for skilled movement
