Phase 1 Prophase
chromosomes condence (pack) into sister chromatid pairs, Starts forming spindle apparatus, nuclear envelope breaks down
Phase 2 Prometaphase
Microtubules of spindle apparatus binds to the centromere (kinetochores) on each sister chromatid
Phase 3 Metaphase
Sister chromatid pairs line up in the middle of the cell (driven by microtubule movement)
Phase 4 Anaphase
Sister Chromatids are separated, individual chromosomes are pulled to opposite ends, each poll ends with a full diploid set of chromosomes.
Telophase
Nuclear envelope reforms, Chromosomes decondense, cell now contains new nuclei
Cytoskeleton
divides into two new cells with a nucleus, some ribosome, some mitochondria
