Plasma Membrane:
separates internal components of cell from surrounding environment, permeable membrane
Cytoplasm:
suspended organelles, chem reactions, gel-like fluid inside
Nucleus:
control center, regulates cell activity, genetic material, DNA material in center
Nuclear Membrane:
protects nucleus, only specific materials, double-layered membrane
Nucleolus
forms RNA/ribosome, body within nucleus
Mitochondria:
convert nutrients into energy, creates ATP, powerplant of cell
Ribosomes:
protein synthesis for internal/external, use small RNA in nucleus/cytoplasm
Endoplasmic Reticulum:
transports materials throughout cell, connects cell-membrane to nucleus mem.
RER + SER
synthesis/transport of proteins
synthesis + lipid molecules
Golgi Apparatus
packages/releases material secreted by cell for external use, 4-6 membrane sacs, near nucleus
Lysosomes:
digest waste material found in cell, sacs surrounded by membranes
Cytoskeleton:
maintains shape/structure of cell, keeps organelles in place
Centriole
cell reproduction through DNA to new cells, rod-shaped bodies
Cilla:
aid in movement of substances along cell surface, short hair-like microtubules
Flagella
move cell itself, long hair-like microtubules
