Intro
Good afternoon, judges. We stand before you today representing Rest and Reset — a community awareness campaign addressing one of the most pressing yet overlooked public health concerns of our generation: the collapse of work-life balance among both adolescents and working adults.
Research
The data tells a clear story. Among teenagers, 1 in 5 now show symptoms of anxiety or depression, and research confirms that past a certain point, more homework does not improve performance — it only increases stress. Among college students, over 60% met criteria for at least one mental health condition during the 2020-2021 school year. And for working adults, the World Health Organization estimates that depression and anxiety cost the global economy approximately one trillion dollars annually in lost productivity. This is not an individual problem. It is a public health crisis — and it follows people from adolescence straight into adulthood.
Podcast
Second — Podcast: Barely Balanced. We launched an official Spotify podcast featuring segments on time management, emotional health, and listener-submitted stories. We hosted a student guest speaker and are currently recording an episode with an adult professional discussing how balance becomes even harder after entering the workforce.
Media Outreach
Fourth — Media Outreach. We engaged directly with the Naples Daily News, presenting Rest and Reset as a locally relevant response to burnout. We are actively coordinating next steps toward publication to extend our campaign’s reach across Southwest Florida.
Summary
Our reach grew significantly across platforms. But beyond the numbers, students approached us after the Arthrex presentation saying they finally felt permission to prioritize their well-being. Followers submitted personal stories for our podcast. Our audience did not just consume our content — they connected with it.
A campaign’s true measure is whether people walk away thinking, feeling, or acting differently. By that standard, Rest and Reset is working.

The need is real, the research is clear, and the stories are compelling. Through Rest and Reset, we have built a campaign that does not simply inform — it connects, empowers, and calls our community to action.
