Direct rule
A form of colonial rule characterized by using own officials, laws, and institutions.
Indirect rule
A form of colonial rule using powers and traditional leaders.

A rapid takeover and division of African territories by European powers including the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, and Italy.
Imperialism on Native people
Caused loss of land, labor, destruction of traditional cultures, exploitation of resources, and the spread of disease.

A military tactic where soldiers dig long, narrow ditches called trenches to protect themes.
