Energy
The ability to do work or cause change in a system.
Oscillation
The movement of an object back and forth at a regular speed.
Work
The product of force and the distance moved in the direction of the force, expressed as W = F × d.
Power
The rate at which work is done, calculated as Power = Work / Time.
Kinetic Energy
The energy associated with an object's motion, which increases when work is performed on the object.
Simple Machine
A device that multiplies the effect of an applied force, such as levers or pulleys.
Mechanical Advantage
The ratio of the output force to the input force in a simple machine.
Negative Work
Work done by a force in the opposite direction of an object's motion, which decreases its kinetic energy.
Joule
A unit of work defined as the energy transferred when a force of one newton moves an object one meter.
Force
Any interaction that, when unopposed, will change the motion of an object.
