Birth Chart
A snapshot of the sky at the moment of birth that acts as a map for evolution, showing patterns, potential, and tendencies.
Planets
The ten main components (Sun through Pluto) that reflect how consciousness expresses itself and describe inner motivations or drivers.
12 Zodiac Signs
Archetypes that describe the style of expression and how energy moves; they represent the "how" of life.
Houses
Twelve specific areas of life that describe where experiences show up and where energy plays out.
Mesopotamia (Babylon)
The ancient region where astrology originated around 2000 BCE.
Claudius Ptolemy
A 2nd-century CE figure who wrote the Tetrabiblos and systematized houses, aspects, and planetary meanings.
Tetrabiblos
A historical text written by Claudius Ptolemy that formalised many astrological systems.
Carl Jung
A 20th-century psychologist who explored synchronicity and archetypes, merging astrology with personal development.
Synthesis
The practice of putting together planets (the act), signs (the style), and houses (the location) to interpret a chart.
Agency
The capacity for individual choice and self-direction which astrology supports rather than dictating fate.
Pop Astrology
A simplified version of astrology that often lacks the context found in depth astrology.
Hellenistic Period
The era around 323 BCE during which astrology was formalised and integrated into medicine, philosophy, and mathematics.
