Role Models

• A person looked to by others

• We can have many different role models

  • Different role models in different stages of life

• Role models can be close to home

  • Such as parents, guardians and caregivers

What can role models teach?

• Integrity, optimism, hope, determination, and compassion

• Role models give us our most important life lessons & have a profound influence over us

Traits of a Positive Role Model

• Respects:

  • People’s rights

  • Other people

  • People with disabilities

  • Political parties

• Treats people equally

• Stands up for others’ rights

• Exercises rights and responsibilities

• Lead by example

• Law abiding

Traits of a Negative Role Model

• No respect

• Discriminative

• Do not lead by example

• Not law abiding

What does the constitution aim to do?

• Heal the divisions

• Improve the quality of life

• Foundations for a democratic and open society

• Build a united and democratic South Africa

  • The right to things like housing, health care, social security and basic education
