Illuminance
The amount of light falling on a surface, typically measured in lux.
Daylight Factor
The ratio of the daylight illuminance at a point inside a room to the illuminance outside.
Incandescent Lamp
A type of artificial light that emits light when an electric current passes through a tungsten filament.
Fluorescent Lamp
A lamp that produces light by exciting mercury vapor, which then emits ultraviolet light converted to visible light by a phosphor coating.
HID Lamp
A lamp in which light is produced by an electric arc passing through a gas or vapor under high pressure.
Halogen Lamp
An improved incandescent lamp that uses halogen gas to allow the filament to operate at higher temperatures.
LED
A solid-state lighting device that emits light through electroluminescence when electrical energy passes through a semiconductor diode.
Mercury Vapor Lamp
A type of HID lamp that produces bluish-white light and is one of the earliest types of HID lamps.
Metal Halide Lamp
Produces bright white light with good color rendering; commonly used in sports arenas.
High-Pressure Sodium Lamp
A type of HID lamp that produces yellow-orange light and is very efficient for street lighting.
Low-Pressure Sodium Lamp
A highly efficient HID lamp with poor color rendering, known for its almost monochromatic yellow light.
Components of Daylight Factor
Includes Sky Component (SC), Externally Reflected Component (ERC), and Internally Reflected Component (IRC).
