Refraction
The bending of light rays as they pass through different media.
Accommodation
The process by which the eye's lens changes shape to focus on objects at various distances.
Near point
The closest distance at which the eye can focus clearly, typically 25cm for young adults.
Far point
The farthest distance at which an object can be seen clearly.
Nearsightedness (Myopia)
A condition where distant objects appear blurry due to the eye being too long or the cornea being too curved.
Converging lens
A lens that brings light rays together, used to correct farsightedness (hyperopia).
Cylindrical lens
A type of lens used to correct astigmatism by focusing light into a line rather than a point.
Astigmatism
A defect caused by an irregularly shaped cornea or lens that leads to blurry vision because points are focused as lines.
Cataract
Clouding in the crystalline lens of the eye that obstructs light passage, leading to vision loss.
Lens equation
An equation that relates object distance, image distance, and focal length of the lens.
Nodes
Points on a standing wave where there is no oscillation.
Anti-nodes
Points on a standing wave with maximum oscillation.
