Erythrocytes
Red blood cells that carry oxygen using hemoglobin and lack a nucleus.
Leukocytes
White blood cells that function in defense against infections and invaders.
Platelets
Cell fragments involved in blood clotting and wound repair.
Plasma
The liquid part of blood, consisting of water, nutrients, gases, and proteins.
Hemoglobin
A protein in red blood cells that binds oxygen and carries it to tissues.
Hemophilia
A genetic disorder where blood does not clot properly due to lack of clotting factors.
Thromboplastin
A hormone released from platelets that initiates the clotting process.
Prothrombin
A plasma protein that is converted to thrombin during the clotting process.
Thrombin
An enzyme that converts fibrinogen to fibrin during blood clotting.
Fibrinogen
A soluble plasma protein that is converted into fibrin to form a blood clot.
Anemia
A condition characterized by a deficiency in red blood cells or hemoglobin.
Centrifugation
The process used to separate blood components based on density.
Neutrophils
White blood cells that are the first responders to bacterial infections.
Eosinophils
White blood cells associated with allergic reactions and parasitic infections.
Basophils
White blood cells that play a role in inflammation and allergic responses.
Lymphocytes
White blood cells involved in the immune response by producing antibodies.
Monocytes
Large white blood cells that differentiate into macrophages and clean up dead cells.
Clotting Factor
Proteins in the blood that are essential for the blood clotting process.
Vascular spasms
Constriction of blood vessels that occurs during hemostasis to reduce blood flow.
Embolism
A condition where a dislodged blood clot travels through the circulatory system and can block blood flow.
