Female Reproductive System 1. menstrual cycle-

a “cycle” of about 28 days where ovulation and menstruation occur

the flow of the uterine lining material from the body

a 3-7-day time “period” during the menstrual cycle when menstruation occurs

when the egg is release from the ovary and travels through the fallopian tube

female reproductive glands; where eggs are stored and estrogen & progesterone is

produced

the birth canal (where the baby leaves the body)

the tubes that connect the ovaries with the uterus; where fertilization takes

place

finger-like structures that help “grab” an ovum from the ovary

Female Reproductive System 9. uterus-

the organ where the baby develops

Female Reproductive System 10. endometrium-

the uterine lining; builds up for pregnancy to nourish the baby

Female Reproductive System 11. cervix-

opening from the uterus to the vagina

Female Reproductive System 12. umbilical cord-

attaches the baby to the lining of the uterus; provides the baby with oxygen &

nutrients; helps to remove waste
