Three types of vision, the distance (visual control zone) each works best at and the advantages of each and which is the last to develop and the first that we tend to loose
Central vision- 3 degrees in width, primary use is for targeting, best suited fr 20-30 second visual search zone
Fringe vision- Judges depth and position, wider than central vision, best suited for 12-15 visual search zone
Peripheral vision- 180 degrees, detects presence, color, and motion, last vision for children to develop and the first we loose, 5-10 Econ’s visual search zone
Smith system
Aim high in steering (search up to 20 to 30 seconds ahead)
Scan left and right
Try to take in the big picture (don’t forget whats behind you)
Make sure others can see you (headlights on/use horn if needed)
Leave yourself an out (escape path)
