Anadiplosis
phrase/word that ends a sentence or clause is repeated at the start of the next sentence or clause.
Chiasmus
Words/phrases are repeated in the reverse order. (this creates rhythm, reinforces an argument)
Tri-colon
a rhetorical device consisting of a series of three parallel words, phrases, or clauses that create a sense of completeness, rhythm, and memorability
Parallelism
use of similar syntax and/or grammatical structure to create balance, rhythm & reinforce argument.
Rhetorical Question
posing questions to create effect, persuasion or emphasis rather than to obtain an answer, as the answer is normally obvious or implied.
Polysyndeton
repetition or coordination conjunctions (e.g. and, or, but) in a quick succession, often omitting the use of commas to speed up, slow down, or intensify a passage.
Digression
where a writer or speaker temporarily shifts away from the main plot or subject to explore unrelated topics, backstories, or descriptions.
