Graphic Preparation Image
A visual representation of specific information that can be displayed on a computer screen or printed, which can be static or dynamic.
Color Depth
Refers to the maximum number of colors an image can contain, expressed in bits per pixel (bpp) or bits per channel (bpc).
Resolution
Determined by the number of pixels; the clarity of an image is defined by the arrangement of pixels over a defined measurement unit.
Vector Graphics
Images that are created using mathematical formulas and are resolution-independent, allowing for scaling without loss of quality.
Bit Depth
The number of bits used to represent the color of a single pixel; higher bit depth allows for a greater range of colors.
Color Model
A mathematical model describing the way colors can be represented as tuples of numbers, such as RGB or CMYK.
Raster Image Processor (RIP)
A hardware or software tool that converts graphic design data into a raster image that can be printed.
Compression Techniques
Methods used to reduce the size of image files, which may involve losing some data (lossy) or retaining all data (lossless).
Dithering
A process used in image processing to create the illusion of color depth in images with a limited color palette.
PDF (Portable Document Format)
A file format developed by Adobe for document exchange that preserves the fonts, images, and layout of any source document.
