STP Activity Rules

Lunch

1. Use good table manners. 2. Throw away all trash appropriately and leave your area clean. 3. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 4. Wait for permission before beginning another activity.

Note: Counselors should evaluate the activity rules for Lunch any time the group is eating; for example, if group members eat a snack during an afternoon transition.

Pedestrian Transitions

1. Be responsible for your belongings. 2. Walk unless directed otherwise by a staff member. 3. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 4. Stay in your assigned area (e.g., the designated formation).

Vehicular Transitions

!. Be responsible for your belongings. 2. Wear a seatbelt if available. 3. Keep all body parts inside windows. 4. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 5. Stay in your seat until given permission to exit. 6. Do not eat or drink in vehicles.

Point Checks

1. Make initial eye contact with the counselor when being told about your points. 2. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 3. Wait for permission before proceeding to the next activity.

Group Discussions

1. Speak at an appropriate voice level. 2. Initiate appropriate eye contact when speaking and when being spoken to directly. 3. Use materials and possessions appropriately.

Bathroom Breaks

1. Flush toilet after use. 2. Wash and dry your hands. 3. Leave the area clean and dry. 4. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 5. Report any unclean conditions to a counselor or the bathroom monitor immediately.

Recess

1. Stay in the designated recess area. 2. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 3. Be respectful of others. 4. Obey adults.

Time Out

1. Do not exhibit negative behavior when time out is assigned. 2. Do not exhibit negative behavior during the time out. 3. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 4. Stay in your assigned area. 5. Be ready to rejoin the group when time out is over (i.e., post time out sit out not assigned). 6. Do not exhibit negative behavior during the post time out sit out.

Locker Room

1. Be prepared with a bathing suit and towel. 2. Walk at all times in the locker room and bathroom. 3. Change into bathing suit or dry clothing within the time limit set by the counselors. 4. Be responsible for your belongings. 5. Use materials and possessions appropriately. 6. Wait with the group until given permission to enter or to leave the locker room, bathroom, or pool area. 7. Shower before swimming.

Pool

1. Walk at all times. 2. Participate in swimming activities unless given permission to do otherwise. 3. Swim in the assigned area. 4. Follow the instructions for the lesson. 5. Do not spit, splash, chew gum, wrestle, or push or dunk other people. 6. Do not jump or dive from starting blocks. 7. Do not jump or dive within one body length of another person. 8. Dive from the pool edge only within the designated area. 9. Use materials and possessions appropriately: a. do not stand or sit on kickboards. b. do not walk on the pool deck, or jump or dive into the pool while wearing flippers. c. do not dive while wearing a mask. d. do not hang from on swing on ladders, lane lines, life guard chairs, rails, or ropes. 10. Use diving boards appropriately: a. do not swim in the area designated for diving board use. b. stand with both feet on the pool deck while another person is on the diving board. c. do not hang from or swing on diving board rails. Notes: For each violation of a pool rule, with the exception of rule #2 and rule #4, the child must sit out of the pool for two minutes. If a single behavior violates more than one rule, the child must sit out for two minutes for each applicable behavior, served consecutively. If a child must serve a time out and a two minute sit out for the same behavior, the two minute sit out is served concurrently within the time out.

Recreational Activities

1. Follow the rules of the sport. 2. Participate in the game (i.e., be actively involved in the game, try your hardest). 3. Stay in your assigned position. 4. Use materials and possessions appropriately.

Skill Drills
