How to filter food sample
Grind in pestle and mortar with distilled water, add more distilled water, filter using funnel and filter paper
Starch test
Add 2cm³ of food sample with 2cm³ of iodine. Positive result : orange → blue-black
Reducing sugars test
Add 2cm³ of food sample to 2cm³ Benedict’s. Heat in 80*C water bath for 2 mins. Positive result: blue → (green - brick red)
Protein test
Add 2cm³ of food sample to 2cm³ Biuret solution in test tube and stir. Positive result: blue → lilac/purple
Amylase reaction test
Add 5 test tubes (amylase, starch, buffer pH 5, 7, 9) in a 35*C water bath for 5 mins. After 5 mins take a test tube and pipette and immediately put some amylase, starch, and buffer pH solution. Then immediately start the stopwatch and instantaneously place your first drop. Positive result: stops turinig blue-black and stays orange.
