Phrenic nerve (cervical plexus)
innervates diaphragm and pericardium (heart)
Axillary nerve (brachial plexus)
• Runs posterior humerus
• innervates deltoid and teres minor
Musculocutaneous nerve (brachial plexus)
• Traves inferiorly in the anterior arm
• Innervates coracobrachialis, the biceps brachii and the brachialis
Median Nerve (brachial plexus)
• Innervates flexors of forearm, except flexor carpi ulnaris, and medial two digits
(middle finger), runs through carpal tunnel
Ulnar nerve (brachial plexus)
• Innervates flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor digitorum longus, digit V and medial half of digit IV
• Helps with grip and writing
• Gives feeling to pinky finger
Radial nerve (brachial plexus)
Innervates triceps brachii, extrinsic extensors of the wrist and hands
Obturator (lumbar plexus)
Innervates medial thigh and thigh adductor muscles
femoral (lumbar plexus)
• Largest nerve of lumbar plexus
• Innervates anterior thigh muscles: iliopsoas, pectineus, sartorius, quadriceps femoris
Sciatic nerve (sacral plexus)
Innervates biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, medial side of adductor magnus
Common fibular nerve (sacral plexus)
Innervates fibularis longus, fibularis brevis, tibialis anterior, extensors of the calf and ankle
Superior gluteal (sacral plexus)
Innervates gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, tensor fascia latae
Inferior gluteal (sacral plexus)
Innervates gluteus maximus
Tibial Nerve (sacral plexus)
• Major peripheral nerve
• Innervates muscles of the posterior leg and intrinsic foot muscles
• Plantaris, Soleus, Gastronemicus
• Popliteus, flexor hallucis longus, flexor digitorum longus, tibialis posterior
